Program Structure & Syllabus (4–5 Weeks)

Weeks 1–3 — Weekly Small‑Group Coaching Sessions

Weekly 90–120 minute live online sessions with 3–5 candidates. Each session includes 2–3 oral cases, with candidates rotating as the primary responder while others observe and contribute.
Shock, sepsis, chest pain/ACS, shortness of breath, anaphylaxis, and altered LOC. Emphasis on ABCs, initial stabilization, and communicating priorities out loud.
Headache, stroke/TIA, major trauma overview, overdose/tox, hypo/hyperthermia, and environmental exposures. Focus on red‑flag identification and safe, structured approaches.
Pediatric fever/resp distress, early pregnancy complications, acute psych presentations, and geriatric or medically complex cases with multiple comorbidities.

Week 4 (±5) — Full Virtual Mock Oral Circuit

Live, timed circuit of 6–8 oral cases delivered in succession, simulating exam‑day pacing. Candidates are assessed across clinical reasoning, prioritization, and communication domains.
Individualized feedback session reviewing strengths, growth areas, pacing, and clarity. Candidates receive a brief written summary and suggested study focus for the remaining prep period.
Guidance on self‑recording, peer‑to‑peer practice, and case lists to rehearse between sessions, reinforcing frameworks and exam‑style phrasing.
Prerequisites
Emergency Medicine resident or practicing EM physician
Planning to sit, or recently scheduled for, the RCPSC EM oral examination
Reliable internet connection and webcam for virtual sessions
