Course Syllabus

Module 1 — Skin Integrity & Wound Healing Process

Anatomy and physiology of skin, wound healing stages, factors influencing healing.

Module 2 — Wound Assessment & Documentation

Wound measurement, staging, exudate evaluation, tissue type identification, charting standards.

Module 3 — Dressing Materials & Selection

Types of dressings (hydrocolloid, foam, alginate, transparent), choosing based on wound needs.

Module 4 — Infection Control & Aseptic Technique

Hand hygiene, sterile field, cleaning and irrigation, prevention of cross-contamination.

Module 5 — Wound Management & Complication Prevention

Chronic wounds, pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, venous/arterial ulcers, management protocols.

Module 6 — Hands-On Skills Lab

Practical dressing applications, mock wound simulations, competency evaluation.

Current RN, RPN, PSW, or Nursing Student

Basic anatomy & aseptic knowledge
