Course Syllabus

Professional accountability, legal and ethical considerations, the rights of medication administration, safety culture, and error reporting.
Types of orders (routine, PRN, STAT), reading and clarifying orders, MAR review, allergy checks, and parameters (BP, HR, labs).
Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, therapeutic vs toxic effects, onset/peak/duration, drug interactions, and special populations.
Tablet/liquid dose calculations, unit conversions, safe rounding, double‑checks, and practice questions with instructor guidance.
Oral, sublingual, topical, ophthalmic, otic, inhaled, IM and SC injections, site selection, rotation, and documentation.
Insulin, anticoagulants, opioids, concentrated electrolytes, monitoring for side effects, adverse reactions, and anaphylaxis response.
Step‑by‑step med passes in a simulated environment, error‑prevention drills, and competency checklist sign‑off.

Current RN, RPN, RT, or Nursing Student
Basic math skills (fractions, ratios) recommended
Government-issued ID for attendance verification
